Saptak School of Music in Austin, is hosting its second student recital on May 19th at the Shepherd of the Hills Christian Church. Participants consisting of both kids and adults, will showcase a variety of genres in Indian vocal music. We will also have guest performers presenting “Sangam: Confluence of Hindustani and Carnatic Music”. Check out this page later for pictures and videos.

 

Just like every year, Saptak School of Music is back with their workshop series over the summer break. There are different topics to choose from:

  • Introduction to Indian Classical Music- This is a 2hr. workshop on the basics of Hindustani classical music.
  • Introduction to Indian Devotional Music- This is a 2hr. workshop on Indian Bhajans and other forms of devotional music found in Indian vocal music.
  • Introduction to Indian Folk Music- This is a 2hr. workshop on some of the different forms of Indian folk music.

Some additional details about the workshops:

  • Offered to both children and adults
  • Individual and group sessions are available
  • Workshops can be scheduled as per the convenience of the participant/s.
  • Workshops will only be offered between June-August.
  • Workshops fees will be $40/participant for 2hrs session, which include class recordings, notes and snacks. A deposit of $10 will be required to book the session/s. The deposit will be counted towards the total payment. You can pay by check, cash or through online transfer options.
